IF YOU CONFIRM:

The interior “courtesy lamps” are inoperative on an applied vehicle,

NOTE: Courtesy lamps include map/dome and vanity lights.

 

DETERMINE IF:

The Body Control Module (BCM) needs to be replaced.

 

ACTIONS:

  • Follow the service procedure in this bulletin to diagnose the incident.
  • If necessary, replace the BCM with the part number listed in the Parts Information.

NOTE:  Before starting this Service Procedure, collect all vehicle keys and remote controls from the customer.  If BCM replacement is needed, all the vehicle keys and remotes will need to be programmed into the new BCM.

CLAIMS INFORMATION

Submit a Primary Failed Part (PP) line claim using the following claims coding:

DESCRIPTION PFP OP CODE SYM DIA FRT
RPL Body Control / IVMS Module (1) RD94AA ZE 32 (2)

 

  1. Reference the Parts Information table above and use the indicated BCM P/N as the PFP.
  2. Reference the current Nissan Warranty Flat Rate Manual and use the indicated FRT.

IMPORTANT: The purpose of “ACTIONS” (above) is to give you a quick idea of the work you will be performing.  You MUST closely follow the entire Service Procedure (starting on page 2) as it contains information that is essential to successfully completing this repair.

 

SERVICE PROCEDURE

  1. Verify the incident.
  2. Write down the radio presets for later “reprogramming” back into the radio.
  3. Shut all the windows completely (if open).
  4. Shut the sunroof completely (if open).
  5. Disconnect the negative battery terminal and wait 5 minutes.
  6. Re-connect the negative battery terminal.
  7. Determine the need for BCM replacement as follows:
    • If the lights work now, BCM replacement is required to ensure that the incident isresolved. Replace the BCM with the one listed in the Parts Information section of this bulletin.

IMPORTANT:  If the courtesy lamps work now, steps 1 through 6 (above) took care of it only temporarily.  There is no way to ensure that the incident is permanently resolved, so replacing the BCM is necessary.

  • If the courtesy lamps don’t work after steps 1-6, this bulletin does not apply. See the“LT Lighting System” Section in the “K Electrical” chapter of the 2003 Murano ESM.
  1. “Re-register” all the vehicle keys to the new BCM. This is explained in Nissan Technical Bulletin NTB02-071A.
  2. “Re-register” all the vehicle remote controls. This is explained in the “BL Body, Lock and Security System” Section in the “I Body ” chapter of the 2003 Murano ESM.
  3. “Re-program” the radio presets you wrote down in step 1.
