INTRODUCTION
Infiniti is conducting this voluntary safety recall campaign on certain specific model year
2023-2024 QX50 and 2024 QX60 vehicles to replace the driver air bag module.
IDENTIFICATION NUMBER
Infiniti has assigned identification number PD104 to this campaign. This number must
appear on all communication and documentation of any nature dealing with this campaign.
RETAILER RESPONSIBILITY
It is the retailer’s responsibility to check Service COMM or Dealer Business Systems (DBS)
National Service History for the campaign status on each vehicle falling within the range of
this voluntary safety recall which for any reason enters the service department. This
includes vehicles purchased from private parties or presented by transient (tourist) clients
and vehicles in a retailer’s inventory. Federal law requires that new vehicles in retailer
inventory which are the subject of a safety recall must be corrected prior to sale.
Failure to do so can result in civil penalties by the National Highway Traffic Safety
Administration. While federal law applies only to new vehicles, Infiniti strongly
encourages retailers to correct any used vehicles in their inventory before they are retailed.

When ordering, keep in mind that the tool part number prefix has changed from “J” to “NI”.
For example, J-52352 is now NI-52352.

 Each retailer has been previously shipped one Quick Scan Tool (NI-52352).

SERVICE PROCEDURE
To avoid the risk of death or severe personal injury, follow all cautions, warnings, and notes
in the ESM when working on or near a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS), such as an
air bag.
To avoid damage to the vehicle, handle interior trim carefully. Work with clean hands
and clean tools to avoid dirt and stains. Use protective covers as needed.
1. Turn the ignition OFF.
2. Disconnect both battery cables, battery negative cable first.
3. Wait at least 3 minutes.
New Driver Air Bag Module Registration
4. Obtain a new driver air bag module from your parts department.
 The new driver air bag module is listed in the PARTS INFORMATION.

5. Attach the Quick Scan Tool (NI-52352)
to your CONSULT PC USB port.

6. On the left side of ASIST main menu, select TECH SUPPORT INFO, and then
Inventory Vehicle Actions.

 The VIN will automatically populate (Figure 6).
 If needed, the VIN can be entered manually.

8. Use the Quick Scan Tool to scan the
bar code (VIN) on the B-pillar label.
 Wipe any dirt/debris from bar code
before scanning.
HINT:
 Some labels may not scan quickly.
 Hold the scan tool approximately
6 inches away from the label.
 Hold the trigger down until the
label is read (this may take several
seconds).

9. Use the Quick Scan Tool to scan the bar code (QX50 shown in Figure 7) or the QR
code (QX60 shown in Figure 8) on the new driver air bag module.
 The serial number will automatically populate.
HINT: If needed, the serial number can be entered manually.
10. Select Submit on the ASIST screen (Figure 6 on page 5).
11. Remove and replace the driver air bag module.
 Refer to the ESM: RESTRAINTS > SRS AIR BAG > REMOVAL AND
INSTALLATION > DRIVER AIR BAG
12. Reconnect both battery cables, battery negative cable last.
 Nut torque: 8.0 N•m (0.82 kg-m, 71 in-lb)
13. Perform required additional service.
 Refer to the ESM: ELECTRICAL & POWER CONTROL > POWER SUPPLY,
GROUND & CIRCUIT ELEMENTS > BASIC INSPECTION > INSPECTION AND
ADJUSTMENT > ADDITIONAL SERVICE WHEN REMOVING BATTERY
