A broken driveshaft can result in a loss of drive power, or a vehicle roll away when the vehicle is in park without the parking brake applied. Both scenarios can increase the risk of a crash.

Summary
Nissan North America, Inc. (INFINITI) is recalling certain 2011-2013 M56, 2012-2013 M35 Hybrid, 2014-2018 Q50, Q70 Hybrid, 2014-2019 Q70, and 2015-2019 Q70L two-wheel drive vehicles. The driveshaft can fatigue and break.
Remedy
Dealers will replace the driveshaft, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed August 12, 2024. Owners may contact INFINITI’s customer service at 1-800-662-6200. INFINITI’s numbers for this recall are R24A5 and R24A7.

Description of the Defect:
Due to a supplier specification change, certain INFINITI vehicles may contain a propeller shaft with reduced fatigue strength. Over time, this condition may cause the propeller shaft to fracture at the press-fit joint of the ball yoke, and could result in a loss of motive power while driving. An unexpected loss of motive power while driving at high speed may increase the risk of a crash.
Additionally, if the propeller shaft fractures while driving, an affected vehicle may move after placing the shifter into ‘Park.’ If the driver does not engage the parking brake, the potential for movement of the vehicle may increase the risk of injury or crash.
Description of Corrective Action:
Retailers will be notified of the recall on June 25, 2024. Beginning August 12, 2024, owners of all potentially affected vehicles will be notified to bring their vehicle to an INFINITI retailer for replacement of the propeller shaft. All repairs will be performed free of charge for parts and labor and may take up to one (1.0) hour to complete.
Nissan/lNFINITI will include a statement in the Part 577 owner notification concerning reimbursement for the cost of obtaining a pre-notification remedy because the subject vehicles are no longer under warranty.
