Summary
Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan
) is recalling certain 2022 INFINITI
QX60 and Nissan
Pathfinder vehicles. The second-row seat track may be missing a mounting bolt. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 207, “Seating Systems.”
Remedy
Dealers will inspect the second-row seat track and install a new mounting bolt as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 13, 2022. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669. Nissan
’s numbers for this recall are PC867 and PC868.

INFINITI is committed to the safety and security of our clients and their passengers. INFINITI
has notified the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that it is recalling a certain MY2022 INFINITI
QX60 vehicle to inspect the second row seat tracks and, if necessary, replace any missing bolts.
Assembly issues at the supplier during the reinstallation for the second row seat tracks, may have resulted in a missing mounting bolt. If a mounting bolt is missing, the second row seat track may move in the event of a crash, and could potentially increase the risk of injury. Under these conditions, the second row seat does not meet requirements of FMVSS 210; Seat Belt Assembly Anchorages.
Affected vehicles are subject to stop sale.

Certain Model Year 2022 INFINITI QX60 vehicle manufactured on November 30, 2021 at the Smyrna, TN plant may be affected.

Yes. Certain Model Year 2022 Nissan Pathfinder vehicles manufactured from November 3, 2021 to November 19, 2021 at the Smyrna, TN plant.
Chronology :
December 16, 2021 – A plant technician noticed a missing bolt in the rail of a vehicle’s second row seat when he tilted the seat forward to make a carpet adjustment to the third-row floor. Nissan initiated containment measures and immediately began an investigation.
December 2021 through January 2022 – The Tier 2 supplier and Nissan conducted their respective investigations. During this time, both Nissan
and the supplier conducted yard audits totaling 27, 731 seat tracks and pursued investigation of the issue with the Tier 1 supplier.
During the Tier 1 supplier investigation, it was determined that an operator may have inadvertently removed the bolt during a limited reinstallation procedure, which narrowed the scope of the potentially affected population of seat tracks. Nissan implemented a countermeasure in production to prevent the issue from reoccurring. Concurrently, Nissan
initiated a safety assessment to investigate the impact of the missing bolt on the regulation.
February 2022 – Nissan’s safety assessment determined that if the bolt is missing, the seat track may move in the event of a crash and potentially increase the risk of injury.
February 16, 2022 – Nissan decided to conduct a Voluntary Safety Recall to inspect, and remedy if necessary, all potentially affected vehicles.
Nissan is not aware of any warranty claims attributed to this condition.

Nissan initiated containment measures and immediately began an investigation. December 2021 through January 2022 – The Tier 2 supplier and Nissan conducted their respective investigations. During this time, both Nissan and the supplier conducted yard audits totaling 27, 731 seat tracks and pursued investigation of the issue with the Tier 1 supplier. During the Tier 1 supplier investigation, it was determined that an operator may have inadvertently removed the bolt during a limited reinstallation procedure, which narrowed the scope of the potentially affected population of seat tracks. Nissan implemented a countermeasure in production to prevent the issue from reoccurring. Concurrently, Nissan performed a safety assessment to investigate the impact of the missing bolt on the regulation.
