2004 – 2005 QUEST; LACK OF POWER A/T IN FAIL SAFE (3RD GEAR)

This bulletin amends NTB04-144. This version amends the Claims Information.
Please discard all paper copies of the earlier version.

 

APPLIED VEHICLES:
2004 – 2005 Quest (V42)

APPLIED TRANSMISSION:
Equipped with 4 Speed A/T(RE4F04B) ONLY

APPLIED VIN:
2004 vehicles; all VIN’s
2005 vehicles built before 5N1BV(*)8U(*)5N 101196

APPLIED DATE:
Built before September 17, 2004

 

IF YOU CONFIRM:

A customer reports the following:

and

  • The incident occurs just after the engine is started,

and

NOTE: This incident, if it occurs, may also have the following DTC’s stored in the A/T control unit (TCM). However, the MIL will not come ON (illuminate) for these DTC’s.

  • VHCL SPEED SEN-A/T (Vehicle Speed Sensor Automatic Transmission [Revolution Sensor]
  • VHCL SPEED SEN-MTR (Vehicle Speed Sensor-Meter)

 

ACTION:

Replace the A/T Control Module (TCM) with the new one listed in the parts information.

  • Refer to section AT in the Service Manual (ESM) for replacement information.
