Chronology :

March 10, 2023 – During vehicle transportation, a transport driver reported rapid air loss on the right front tire of a Nissan Titan Pro-4X vehicle. Nissan began an investigation.

March 24, 2023 – Nissan conducted a yard audit and identified one (1) Nissan Frontier and four (4) Nissan Titan XD vehicles with flat tires. All affected tires were broken down for investigation and found to have a tear in the inner bead.

March 28, 2023 – Nissan initiated a quality hold to dealerships for 723 potentially affected MY 2023 Titan and Frontier vehicles pending investigation of a potential mounting issue.

March 30, 2023 – Nissan escalated the dealer action with instructions to replace all four (4) road tires and the spare tire for certain vehicles as its investigation continued.

Nissan’s investigation found that a tire mounter boot that was recently replaced during routine maintenance on one production line was the incorrect shape. This boot’s contact with the inner bead during the tire-to-wheel mounting process could potentially cause a tear in the inner bead in certain cases. Nissan reviewed production records determine the population of vehicle potentially affected.

April 10, 2023 – Nissan decided to conduct a Voluntary Safety Recall to inspect, and remedy all potentially affected vehicles.

Nissan is aware of six (6) total field claims attributed to tire air loss within this subject population. Nissan is not aware of any accidents or injuries for this subject concern.
