Summary
Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2023 Titan and Frontier vehicles. The tires may have a tear in the inner bead which can cause a rapid loss of tire pressure.
Remedy
Dealers will replace all four road tires, or inspect and replace the spare tire assembly, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed June 10, 2023. Owners may contact Nissan’s customer service at 1-800-867-7669. Nissan’s number for this recall is PC973 and PC974.

Nissan is committed to the safety and security of our customers and their passengers. Nissan has notified the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that the previously announced dealer inventory Quality Action (PC972) is being reclassified and expanded as a Voluntary Safety Recall Campaign. Nissan is recalling certain specific MY2023 Nissan Titan and Frontier vehicles as they may have tires that were potentially damaged during the tire mounting process.
The affected tires may have a tear in the inner bead that could lead to rapid depressurization or sudden air loss, increasing the possibility of a crash event.
Beginning in June 2023, owners of all potentially affected vehicles will be notified to bring their Titan or Frontier to a Nissan dealer for the remedy.

Chronology :
March 10, 2023 – During vehicle transportation, a transport driver reported rapid air loss on the right front tire of a Nissan Titan Pro-4X vehicle. Nissan began an investigation.
March 24, 2023 – Nissan conducted a yard audit and identified one (1) Nissan Frontier and four (4) Nissan Titan XD vehicles with flat tires. All affected tires were broken down for investigation and found to have a tear in the inner bead.
March 28, 2023 – Nissan initiated a quality hold to dealerships for 723 potentially affected MY 2023 Titan and Frontier vehicles pending investigation of a potential mounting issue.
March 30, 2023 – Nissan escalated the dealer action with instructions to replace all four (4) road tires and the spare tire for certain vehicles as its investigation continued.
Nissan’s investigation found that a tire mounter boot that was recently replaced during routine maintenance on one production line was the incorrect shape. This boot’s contact with the inner bead during the tire-to-wheel mounting process could potentially cause a tear in the inner bead in certain cases. Nissan reviewed production records determine the population of vehicle potentially affected.
April 10, 2023 – Nissan decided to conduct a Voluntary Safety Recall to inspect, and remedy all potentially affected vehicles.
Nissan is aware of six (6) total field claims attributed to tire air loss within this subject population. Nissan is not aware of any accidents or injuries for this subject concern.
