Brake Master Cylinder may Leak Fluid into Booster
If brake fluid leaks into the brake booster it can lengthen the distance needed to stop the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan
) is recalling certain 2015-2017 Nissan
Juke Nismo RS vehicles. Due to a problem within the brake master cylinder, brake fluid may leak into the brake booster, reducing brake performance.
Remedy
Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will replace the brake master cylinder, free of charge. The recall began March 19, 2018. Owners may contact Nissan
customer service at 1-800-647-7261.

Nissan is conducting a voluntary safety recall campaign on the subject vehicles to replace the brake master cylinder. On certain vehicles, a brake fluid leak may develop and result in illumination of the brake-warning lamp (red). Owners of affected vehicles may experience reduced braking performance and extended stopping distances.
***** What Dealers Should Do****
- Verify if vehicles are affected by this Voluntary Recall Campaign using Service Comm or DBS National Service History – Open Campaign I.D. R1801.
- New vehicles in dealer inventory can be also be identified using DBS (Sales-> Vehicle Inventory, and filter by Open Campaign).
- Refer to NPSB 15-460 for additional information
- New vehicles in dealer inventory can be also be identified using DBS (Sales-> Vehicle Inventory, and filter by Open Campaign).
- Dealers should not sell, lease, trade, rent or loan any vehicles in dealer inventory affected by this recall campaign until after the vehicle has been remedied.
- If a retailed vehicle affected by campaign ID R1801 visits the dealer for service, the dealer should inform the customer about the recall campaign and communicate that parts may need to be ordered. Rental ($120 Max) is available while parts are on order.
- Dealers should use NTB18-007 to remedy any vehicles subject to this campaign.
- Once repaired, dealers should submit the claim, using the claims coding provided, and release the vehicle.

INTRODUCTION
Nissan is conducting this voluntary safety recall campaign on certain specific model year 2015-2017 Juke NISMO RS vehicles to replace the brake master cylinder. This service will be performed at no charge to the customer for parts or labor.
IDENTIFICATION NUMBER
Nissan has assigned identification number R1801 to this campaign. This number must appear on all communication and documentation of any nature dealing with this campaign.
DEALER RESPONSIBILITY
It is the dealer’s responsibility to check Service COMM or Dealer Business Systems (DBS) National Service History for the campaign status on each vehicle falling within the range of this voluntary safety recall which for any reason enters the service department. This includes vehicles purchased from private parties or presented by transient (tourist) owners and vehicles in a dealer’s inventory. Federal law requires that new vehicles in dealer inventory which are the subject of a safety recall must be corrected prior to sale. Failure to do so can result in civil penalties by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. While federal law applies only to new vehicles, Nissan strongly encourages dealers to correct any used vehicles in their inventory before they are retailed.

This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act. Nissan has decided that a defect that relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain 2015-2017 Model Year Nissan
Juke Nismo RS vehicles. Our records indicate that you own or lease the Nissan
vehicle identified by the VIN on the inside of this notice.

Certain 2015-2017 Model Year Juke Nismo RS vehicles may have been manufactured with an out-of-specification brake master cylinder. As a result of this condition, your vehicle may experience reduced braking performance or extended stopping distances, which could increase the risk of a crash. The Brake Warning Light will illuminate as designed to warn you if this occurs.
What Nissan Will Do

Your Nissan dealer will replace the brake master cylinder with a new one at no cost to you for parts or labor. This service should take about one hour to complete, but your Nissan
dealer may require your vehicle for a longer period of time based upon the workshop schedule, or parts availability.
