IF YOU CONFIRM
A wind noise coming from the front A-pillar or front door area that has the following characteristics:
- May be described as a howling, a honk, or a “burrrrrp” type sound.
- It is usually not consistent, but intermittent.
- Is most prevalent during cross wind conditions.
- Can occur at various speeds, but usually occurs between 50 – 80 mph.
- If this noise occurs, it may be heard coming from the left side, the right side, or both sides.
ACTION
Replace the front door weather-strip(s):
- If noise is coming from one side, replace weather-strip on only one side (left or right).
- If noise is coming from both sides, replace weather strip on both sides.
IMPORTANT: The purpose of “ACTION” (above) is to give you a quick idea of the work you will be performing. You MUST closely follow the entire Service Procedure as it contains information that is essential to successfully completing the repair.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
NOTE:
- If noise is coming from one side, replace weather-strip on only one side (left or right).
- If noise is coming from both sides, replace weather-strip on both sides.
- Photos in this bulletin are of the driver’s door, the front passenger door is a mirror image.
- Unclip the weather-strip from the front edge of the door as shown in Figure 1.
- There are 3 snap-in clips in this area.
- Use a suitable plastic trim tool as needed.
- Weather-strip is shown already unclipped in Figure 1.

- Pull the weather-strip loose from its channel across the top of the door and part way down the back of the door.

- Unclip the weather-strip from the back, bottom, and front of the door.
- Use a suitable plastic trim tool.

- Install the new weather-strip in reverse order of removal.
- Make sure the weather-strip is properly secured in its channel across the top of the door.
- Make sure all of the weather-strip clips are properly snapped in place.
