Summary

NissaneBay logo North America, Inc. (NissaneBay logo) is recalling certain 2020 Altima, Maxima and Leaf vehicles. The rear window glass may not remain properly secured to the vehicle.

 

Remedy

NissaneBay logo will notify owners, and dealers will replace the back window glass, free of charge. The recall began November 4, 2020. Owners may contact NissaneBay logo customer service at 1-800-867-7669. NissaneBay logo’s number for this recall is PC752.

IMPORTANT: It is a violation of Federal law for retailers to sell or deliver vehicles in their inventory covered by this notification until the campaign action is performed.

The announcement from September 22, 2020 has been revised to include:

  • The parts restriction w ill be removed and dealers can order parts, as needed, via normal ordering process beginning December 1, 2020.
  • Parts currently on order in DBS will be fulfilled.

***** Campaign Summary***** 

NissaneBay logo is issuing a Voluntary Safety Recall to remove the rear window/back glass and replace it with new window glass for specific 2020 Maxima (A36), Altima (L34), and LEAF (ZEl) vehicles identified in Service Comm.

During the manufacturing process, the proper procedure was not followed for cleaning and applying primer to the rear window/back glass during installation As a result, the rear window/back glass may not have proper adhesion to the vehicle body flange. Under certain circumstances, such as driving at high speed with the window down or other high interior pressure, the rear window/back glass may separate from the vehicle body and increase the risk of a crash.

Affected vehicles are subject to stop sale and are either currently in dealer inventory or assigned and in transit to the dealer

 

***** What Dealers Should Do*****  

  1. Verify if vehicles are affected by this Voluntary Safety Recall Campaign using Service Comm or DBS National Service History Campaign ID PC752.
    • New vehicles in dealer inventory can also be identified using DBS (Sales-> Vehicle Inventory, and filter by Open Campaign).
      • Refer to NPSB 75-460 for additional information
    • Please continue to check newly arriving inventory for campaign applicability.

 

  1. Dealers must not sell, lease, trade, rent or loan any vehicles in dealer inventory affected by this recall campaign until after the vehicle has been

 

  1. Dealers should use NTB2O-O67 to correct any vehicles subject to this
    • If a retailed vehicle affected by this campaign ID visits the dealer for service, the dealer should inform the customer about the recall campaign and communicate that parts may need to be ordered   In an effort to minimize inconvenience to the customer, dealers should place an order for the part and schedule a follow up appointment for repair once the part is available.
    • Dealers have the option to sub let t he repair (up to $7 50 sublet allowance is available)

 

  1. Once remedied dealers should submit the claim, using the claims coding provided, and release t he vehicle.

2020 via US Mail.

AIf your vehicle is subject to this campaign, you will receive an Owner Notification letter from NissaneBay logo, which will provide instructions on how to remedy your vehicle. Affected owners are encouraged
to have their vehicles repaired as soon as possible upon notification.

AParts are on restriction and may be ordered via DBS. Parts for Altima will be in short supply until

INTRODUCTION

NissaneBay logo is conducting this voluntary safety recall campaign, on certain specific model year 2020 Altima, LEAF and Maxima vehicles, to replace the rear window/back door window glass. This service will be performed at no charge to the customer for parts or labor.

 

IDENTIFICATION NUMBER

NissaneBay logo has assigned identification number PC752 to this campaign. This number must appear on all communication and documentation of any nature dealing with this campaign.

 

DEALER RESPONSIBILITY

It is the dealer’s responsibility to check Service COMM or Dealer Business Systems (DBS) National Service History for the campaign status on each vehicle falling within the range of this voluntary safety recall which for any reason enters the service department. This includes vehicles purchased from private parties or presented by transient (tourist) owners and vehicles in a dealer’s inventory.  Federal law requires that new vehicles in dealer inventory which are the subject of a safety recall must be corrected prior to sale.  Failure to do so can result in civil penalties by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.  While federal law applies only to new vehicles, NissaneBay logo strongly encourages dealers to correct any used vehicles in their inventory before they are retailed.

  1. Replace the rear window glass/back door window glass.

 

  • For Altima and Maxima, refer to the ESM: BODY EXTERIOR, DOORS, ROOF & VEHICLE SECURITY > GLASS & WINDOW SYSTEM > REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION > REAR WINDOW GLASS.

 

  • For LEAF, refer to the ESM: REPAIR > BODY EXTERIOR, DOORS, ROOF & VEHICLE SECURITY > GLASS & WINDOW SYSTEM > REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION > BACK DOOR WINDOW GLASS.
