CLICKING NOISE FROM FRONT AXLES  DURING TAKE-OFF/ACCELERATION

 

APPLIED VEHICLES: 2003 – 2007 Murano (Z50)

 

IF YOU CONFIRM:

An applied vehicle has a “clicking” noise coming from the front axles during  take-off/acceleration.

 

ACTION:

Apply Molykote M77 grease (P/N 44003-7S000) to the front wheel drive shaft bearing surfaces.

 

NOTE: Make sure to use the new torque specification for the axle nut: 200 N•m  (147 ft-lb), instead of 125 N•m (92 ft-lb).

 

IMPORTANT: The purpose of “ACTION” (above) is to give you a quick idea of the work you will be performing. You MUST closely follow the entire Service Procedure (starting on page 3) as it contains information that is essential to successfully completing the repair.

NOTE: P/N 44003-7S000 is considered a shop supply – do NOT include it on your warranty claim.

 

CLAIMS INFORMATION

Submit a Primary Failed Part (PP) line claim using the following claims coding:

R & I Both Left and

Right Front Drive Shafts

(1) MB13AA ZL 21 (2)

 

(1) Reference the FAST Parts Catalog and use either the applicable Left or Right Front Wheel Drive Shaft P/N as the PFP.

(2) Reference the current Nissan Warranty Flat Rate Manual and use the indicated FRT.

 

SERVICE PROCEDURE

  1. Remove both Front Wheel Drive Shafts from Axle Hubs. Refer to the FAX section of the applicable Service Manual for the removal procedure.

NOTE: Do not remove the axles from the transmission for this bulletin.

  1. Apply a moderate coat of Molykote M77 Grease (P/N 44003-7S000) to the entire front wheel drive shaft bearing surface (see Figure 1).

  1. Re-install the Front Wheel Drive Shafts per the Service Manual instructions.
  1. Tighten the Axle Nuts to 200 N•m (147 ft-lb), instead of 125 N•m (92 ft-lb).
  1. Test drive the vehicle to confirm the incident is resolved.
