CLICKING NOISE FROM FRONT AXLES DURING TAKE-OFF/ACCELERATION

IF YOU CONFIRM:
An applied vehicle has a “clicking” noise coming from the front axles during take-off/acceleration.
ACTION:
Apply Molykote M77 grease (P/N 44003-7S000) to the front wheel drive shaft bearing surfaces.
NOTE: Make sure to use the new torque specification for the axle nut: 200 N•m (147 ft-lb), instead of 125 N•m (92 ft-lb).

(1) Reference the FAST Parts Catalog and use either the applicable Left or Right Front Wheel Drive Shaft P/N as the PFP.
(2) Reference the current Nissan Warranty Flat Rate Manual and use the indicated FRT.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
- Remove both Front Wheel Drive Shafts from Axle Hubs. Refer to the FAX section of the applicable Service Manual for the removal procedure.
NOTE: Do not remove the axles from the transmission for this bulletin.
- Apply a moderate coat of Molykote M77 Grease (P/N 44003-7S000) to the entire front wheel drive shaft bearing surface (see Figure 1).
- Re-install the Front Wheel Drive Shafts per the Service Manual instructions.
- Use new cotter pin when re-installing Front Wheel Drive Shaft. See Parts Information table.
- Tighten the Axle Nuts to 200 N•m (147 ft-lb), instead of 125 N•m (92 ft-lb).
- Test drive the vehicle to confirm the incident is resolved.
