VOLUNTARY RECALL CAMPAIGN 2020-2021 TITAN/TITAN XD FRONT TURN SIGNAL BULB INSPECTION

INTRODUCTION

Nissan is conducting this voluntary recall campaign, on certain specific model year 20202021 Titan and Titan XD models, to inspect the front right and left turn signal bulbs and, if necessary, replace them. This service will be performed at no charge to the customer for parts or labor.

 

IDENTIFICATION NUMBER

Nissan has assigned identification number PC811 to this campaign. This number must appear on all communication and documentation of any nature dealing with this campaign.

 

DEALER RESPONSIBILITY

It is the dealer’s responsibility to check Service COMM or Dealer Business Systems (DBS) National Service History for the campaign status on each vehicle falling within the range of this voluntary recall which for any reason enters the service department. This includes vehicles purchased from private parties or presented by transient (tourist) owners and vehicles in a dealer’s inventory.  Federal law requires that new vehicles in dealer inventory which are the subject of a recall must be corrected prior to sale.  Failure to

do so can result in civil penalties by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.  While federal law applies only to new vehicles, Nissan strongly encourages dealers to correct any used vehicles in their inventory before they are retailed.

 

SERVICE PROCEDURE

 

1. Partially remove the front passenger side fender protector.

 

• Remove the retainer clips and screws directly behind the combination lamp.

 

TITAN:

 

• 4 retainer clips and 2 screws (Figure 1).

 

TITAN XD:

 

• Remove 2 retainer clips and 2 screws (Figure 2).

 

2. Remove the turn signal bulb.

 

Halogen headlamps: Disconnect the brown turn signal bulb harness connector, and then remove the turn signal bulb socket by rotating counter-clockwise until it stops, and pull back to remove (see Figure 4).

LED headlamps: Rotate the turn signal bulb socket counter-clockwise until it stops, and then pull back to remove (see Figure 5).

 

3. Locate the four character alpha numeric “lot code” of the bulb (Figure 6), and then write it on the repair order.

 

• Use of a light source may help to read the lot code.

 

4. Is the lot code in Table 1 below?

• YES: Replace the bulb.

• NO: Do NOT replace the bulb.

 

NOTE: Only replace the bulb if it is in Table 1 below.

 

IMPORTANT: If the replacement bulb lot code is in Table 1 it CANNOT be used.

 

5. Inspect the lot code on the new replacement bulb before it is installed, and confirm that it is not in Table 1.

 

• If the new replacement bulb is in Table 1, choose a different bulb and recheck against Figure 6 Table 1 until one is found that is not NG.

6. Reassemble the combination lamp with the known-good or replacement bulb.

 

After installing the bulb, install the bulb socket securely for water-tightness to prevent bulb damage.

 

7. Reassemble the fender protector.

 

8. Perform steps 1-7 on pages 2-4 on the driver side front turn signal bulb, and then proceed to step 9.

 

9. Confirm that both left side and right side front turn signal bulbs operate correctly.
