VOLUNTARY SAFETY RECALL CAMPAIGN 2021 ROGUE; REAR SEAT TETHER INSPECTION

INTRODUCTION

Nissan is conducting this voluntary safety recall campaign, on certain specific model year 2021 Rogue vehicles, to inspect the rear seat tether restraint and, if necessary, replace the rear seat back assembly. This service will be performed at no charge to the customer for parts or labor.

IDENTIFICATION NUMBER

Nissan has assigned identification number PC812 to this campaign. This number must appear on all communication and documentation of any nature dealing with this campaign.

DEALER RESPONSIBILITY

It is the dealer’s responsibility to check Service COMM or Dealer Business Systems (DBS) National Service History for the campaign status on each vehicle falling within the range of this voluntary safety recall which for any reason enters the service department. This includes vehicles purchased from private parties or presented by transient (tourist) owners and vehicles in a dealer’s inventory.  Federal law requires that new vehicles in dealer inventory which are the subject of a safety recall must be corrected prior to sale.  Failure to do so can result in civil penalties by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.  While federal law applies only to new vehicles, Nissan strongly encourages dealers to correct any used vehicles in their inventory before they are retailed.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Open both rear passenger doors.

2. Lower both rear seat backs.

3. Locate the 3 seat back tether wire access holes.

4. Lift the seat back cover at the access hole in order to inspect for the weld heat signature of each tether wire (Figure 3).

• A flashlight may be needed to inspect for the weld heat signature marking on both sides of the tether wire.

5. Inspect both sides of ALL 3 seat back tether wires for a weld heat signature marking.

• If there is a tether wire that does not have a weld heat signature marking (Figure 4), the inspection result is NG. Proceed to step 6 to replace the affected seat back.

• If there is a weld heat signature marking on both sides of ALL 3 tether wires (Figure 5), the inspection result is OK. Return both rear seats to their upright position and skip to the CLAIMS INFORMATION table on page 4.

6. Replace the affected seat back assembly.

• For seat back replacement, refer to the ESM section below.
