INTRODUCTION
Nissan
is conducting this voluntary safety recall campaign on certain specific model year 2024 Pathfinder vehicles to inspect and, if necessary, replace the driver seatbelt pretensioner. This service will be performed at no charge to the customer for parts or labor.
IDENTIFICATION NUMBER
Nissan has assigned identification number PD106 to this campaign. This number must appear on all communication and documentation of any nature dealing with this campaign.
DEALER RESPONSIBILITY
It is the dealer’s responsibility to check Service COMM or Dealer Business Systems (DBS) National Service History for the campaign status on each vehicle falling within the range of this voluntary safety recall which for any reason enters the service department. This includes vehicles purchased from private parties or presented by transient (tourist) owners and vehicles in a dealer’s inventory. Federal law requires that new vehicles in dealer inventory which are the subject of a safety recall must be corrected prior to sale. Failure to do so can result in civil penalties by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. While federal law applies only to new vehicles, Nissan strongly encourages dealers to correct any used vehicles in their inventory before they are retailed.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
IMPORTANT: Follow all cautions, warnings, and notes in the Electronic Service Manual (ESM) when working on or near a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS), such as an air bag.
WARNING
To avoid the risk of death or severe personal injury, always observe the following items for preventing accidental activation:
- Before servicing, place the ignition switch in the OFF position, disconnect 12V battery negative terminal and wait for 3 minutes or more (discharges electricity held in the additional power supply circuit of the air bag diagnosis sensor unit). Refer to Precautions for Removing Battery Terminal in the ESM.
- Never use air tools or electric tools for servicing.
CAUTION
To avoid the risk of minor personal injury, property damage, and damage to the vehicle, always observe the following:
- Never place the seat belt pre-tensioner retractor and lap pre-tensioner in an area where the temperature reaches 80°C (176°F) or more.
- Always use a remover tool that is made of plastic to prevent damage to the parts.
- Remove the driver (LH) side Rear Kicking Plate Inner.

- Remove the driver Front Kicking Plate Inner.
- Refer to the ESM: BODY INTERIOR > INTERIOR > REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION > BODY SIDE TRIM > KICKING PLATE > Removal and Installation > Front Kicking Plate
- Move the driver seat all the way forward.
- Remove the Center Pillar Lower Finisher.
- Refer to the ESM: BODY INTERIOR > INTERIOR > REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION > BODY SIDE TRIM > CENTER PILLAR LOWER FINISHER > Removal and Installation
- Carefully move the foam away from the Driver Seatbelt Pre-tensioner lower anchor.
- Inspect the Driver Seatbelt Pre-tensioner for the presence of a rivet, as shown in Figure 7.
- If the rivet is present on the Driver Seatbelt Pre-tensioner, no further action is needed. Continue to step 8 to reassemble the vehicle.
- If the rivet is missing from the Driver Seatbelt Pre-tensioner, replace the Driver Seatbelt Pre-tensioner, and then continue to step 8 to reassemble the vehicle.
- Reposition the foam against the Driver Seatbelt Pre-tensioner lower anchor.
- Reposition the carpet back to its original location.
IMPORTANT: Verify all panel clips are present and attached to each individual finisher and kicking plate before reinstallation.
- Reinstall the Center Pillar Lower Finisher.

- Reinstall the Front Kicking Plate Inner.

- Reinstall the Rear Kicking Plate Inner.

7. Inspect the Driver Seatbelt Pre-tensioner for the presence of a rivet, as shown in
